Trauma and its role in the life of a drug addict

The work deals with the role of trauma in the life of a drug addict with regard to his early childhood and the traumatic events he encountered. The first part of the work is focused on the characteristics of stress, defense mechanisms, post-traumatic stress disorder, then the work presents post-traumatic growth, which is a positive consequence of trauma. The work also deals with the definition of addiction and its origin. The causes and forms of addiction are described. In the last part of the work we deal with the connections between trauma and addiction, specifically how neurobiology and the external environment can be one of the causes of addiction. In this part, the emphasis is on the fact that the event itself is not trauma, but what a person experiences, what takes place within a person and his reaction to a traumatic event, is only trauma. In conclusion, the theory of Gabor Maté is mentioned, who described addiction as a direct consequence of trauma.

Psychological Trauma and its Effects on Human's Life

The objective of the diploma work "Psychological Trauma and its Effects on Human's Life" is to find out the impact of an unexpected traumatic experience which appears in one's life. The theoretical background characterizes briefly the topic of psychological traumatic experiences, their origin, features and forms. It also discusses stress phenomenon, adaptation, defence and managing mechanisms, the ones which help people to deal with strain and difficulties. In the context of extreme stress impacts, the main part focuses on posttraumatic stress disorder as one of the most frequent diagnostic categories. This disorder appears as a consequence of insufficient treatment of a serious traumatic experience which manifests itself by persistence of mental and somatic problems. The work also deals with other consequences of trauma in the psychological and social sphere including posttraumatic growth. The thesis also deals with different trauma reactions and risk and protective factors influencing trauma processing and trauma reactions. The research project (Methodological analysis) provides with case studies and show trauma progress, processing and coping with a traumatic experience. It evaluates and confirms negative and positive impact and influence of psychical trauma on human's life.

Variables predicting the effects of surgery in patients with low back pain Abstract The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the knowledge about pain and its types, especially chronic pain. Than we focus on low back pain and currently used approaches in the treatment of this syndrome. In this work we summarize the influence of central sensitization and adverse life experineces and posttraumatic stress disorder on pain (especially low back pain). In the practical part, we investigated the effect of central sensitization and adverse life events and posttraumatic stress disroder on the effect of spinal surgery in low back region. The results were obtained using Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI), PTSD Cecklist dor DSM-5 (PCL- 5) a Life Event Checklist (LEC-5 Standard), Short Form 36 Helth Survey Questionnaire (SF- 36), NASS Lumbar Spine Questionnaire. The obtained data were statistically evaluated and processed. Higher scores of CSI and LEC-5 (more adverse life events) were both statistically significantly correlated with worse low back surgery outcomes. At the same time, a statistically significant relationship between PCL-5 (checklist of PTSD symptoms) and CSI was confirmed. Interpretative phenomenological analysis of the experience of trafficked people

This thesis focuses on the topic of human trafficking and exploitation from the perspective of the trafficked persons themselves. Using the interpretative phenomenological analysis seeks to determine the lived experience of these people. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with 4 respondents who are clients of the organization La Strada ČR. These interviews were recorded and they were subsequently analyzed according to IPA. Trafficking and exploitation had a significant impact on the lives and experiences of these people. Interpersonal relationships are affected the most, especially the ability to establish contacts with strangers. Also relationships with families are disturbed because of fear of rejection and misunderstanding of what you went through. People live in fear for their safety and future. Interpersonal relationships are on the other side one of the elements helping to manage the traumatic event and their absence deepens negative experiences. The potential and benefits of pastoral care in perinatal child loss

The thesis focuses on the potential and benefits of pastoral care in perinatal child loss. Discussion of the main topic of the work is preceded by a definition of perinatal child loss, information on Dead Foetus Syndrome, an introduction to new-born palliative care at neonatal intensive and resuscitative care units, as well as a reference to the experience parents go through in the death of their own child. A brief introduction of the field of practical theology is followed by the characteristics of clinical pastoral care and the potentials for its practical application. Emphasis is placed on the fact that clinical pastoral care can benefit not only sick patients and their loved ones, but also healthcare workers who are often confronted with pain and suffering during the course of their work. This discussion is then followed by a brief mention of the three theological virtues (love, hope, and faith) that are an essential prerequisite to the efforts of pastoral workers. The topic is concluded with a chapter touching on eschatological perspectives, the importance of baptism, and hope for the salvation of children who pass away before having been baptised.
